The Cheltenham School District announces the following administrative position:

 

Position Title:      High School Principal, Grades 9-12, year-round 12-month position

Classification:      CASSA–Cheltenham Association of School Supervisors and Administrators 

 

Certification:        Pennsylvania Secondary Principal or K-12 Principal Certification 

 

Position Overview:

 

The Cheltenham School District is looking for an innovative building administrator who will communicate and oversee the implementation of a vision of high academic standards for the approximately 1,400 students at the Cheltenham High School. The incumbent in this position is responsible for the total operation and curriculum of the school and performs the administrative functions specified by school law, board policy and directives set forth by the Director of Secondary Education, Assistant Superintendent and Superintendent. The incumbent is expected to have an understanding of special education and instructional practices necessary to improve the educational outcomes for all students.

 

The High School Principal is required to work cooperatively with parents and staff, leading through collaboration.  The principal must provide executive leadership for budget, staffing, professional development, purchasing, and organizing and planning school activities.  It is the expectation that the principal understands and effectively implements provisions of the collective bargaining agreements. The duties shall also include establishing and maintaining a safe, academically rich environment for a highly diverse student body, as well as teachers, and all auxiliary support staff and volunteers.

 

Qualifications:

 

• Pennsylvania Secondary Principal or K-12 Principal Certification 

• Administrative experience at a secondary school level 

• Master of Education required; Ed.D. preferred

• A valid PA Teaching Certificate in secondary education 

• Excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and supervisory skills

• Must be a student-centered decision maker

• Must possess knowledge and skills related to cultural competency and have a commitment to equity

• Ability to develop and maintain authentic and positive relationships with students, staff, families and community members

• Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and data.

• Ability to make effective and persuasive presentations on controversial or complex topics to school administration, district staff, community groups, and the Board of School Directors.

• Proficiency in the use of computer technology and the use of computer programs.
